Blow Molding Machine Operation Guide: A Must-Read for Newbies

In the plastic products industry, blow molding machines are key equipment for processing plastic granules into various hollow plastic products. From common plastic bottles to complex industrial containers, their efficient operation is indispensable. For novices who are new to blow molding machines, it is very important to fully understand the operating procedures and safety regulations. This article will systematically explain the key points of blow moulding machine operation to help you get started quickly and complete production tasks safely and efficiently.

1. Understand the Basic Structure and Working Principle of Blow Molding Machine

The blow molding equipment is mainly composed of extrusion system, mold clamping system, hydraulic system, electrical control system, mold and other parts. The extrusion system is responsible for heating and melting the plastic particles and extruding the preform; The clamping system is used to open and close the mold to ensure that the preform is formed in the mold; The hydraulic system provides power for each movement of the equipment; The electrical control system accurately controls parameters such as temperature, pressure, and time; The mold determines the shape and size of the plastic product.

Working Principle: The plastic particles are heated to a molten state in the extruder barrel, and are pushed by the rotation of the screw to form a tubular parison from the die head. After the parison enters the closed mold cavity, compressed air is introduced into the parison to expand it and cling to the inner wall of the mold. After cooling and shaping, the mold is opened to obtain the desired plastic product.

2. Preparation Before Operation: Key Steps to Ensure Normal Operation of The

Equipment Inspection: Before starting up, the blow molding machine needs to be fully inspected.

Raw Material Preparation: Select appropriate plastic raw materials according to production requirements and check the dryness of the raw materials.

Mold Installation and Debugging: Select a mold that matches the product to be produced. When installing the mold, ensure that the mold is installed in the correct position and the fixing bolts are tightened to prevent the mold from loosening during the production process. After the installation is completed, debug the mold to check whether the opening and closing of the mold is smooth, whether the clamping force meets the requirements, and whether the position of the blowing needle and the blowing pressure are appropriate to ensure that the mold can work normally.

3. Operation Steps: Standardized Operation to Ensure Production Quality and Efficiency

Preheating: Start the blow molding machine, turn on the heating device of the extruder barrel and die head, and set the temperature of each heating section according to the process requirements.

Extrusion Parison: When the raw materials are completely melted, the extruder screw is started to extrude the molten plastic to form a parison. The diameter and wall thickness of the parison can be controlled by adjusting the screw speed and die pressure.

Molding and Blow Molding: After the parison is extruded to a suitable length, the clamping device quickly closes the mold and clamps the parison. Subsequently, compressed air is introduced into the parison to expand and fit the inner wall of the mold cavity under the action of air pressure to form the product shape. The blowing pressure and blowing time are controlled well.

Cooling, Shaping and Demoulding: After the product is cooled and shaped in the mold by the cooling system, the mold temperature is lowered to make the product have sufficient strength and rigidity. The cooling time depends on the size and thickness of the product. After cooling is completed, the mold is opened and the product is pushed out of the mold through the demoulding device to complete a production cycle.

4. Safety Precautions: Ensuring Personal and Equipment Safety

Equipment Protection: During the operation of the blow molding machine, it is strictly forbidden to put your hands or other objects into dangerous areas such as the mold opening and closing area and near the extruder head. The safety protection devices of the equipment must be kept intact, such as the emergency stop button, safety door, etc., and must not be removed or damaged at will.

High Temperature Prevention: The extruder barrel, die head and mold are at high temperatures during operation. Operators should avoid direct contact to prevent burns. If these parts need to be inspected or repaired, the heating device must be turned off first and the operation can only be carried out after the temperature drops to a safe range.

Electrical Safety: Non-professional electrical personnel are not allowed to dismantle or repair the electrical control system without authorization. When an electrical fault occurs in the equipment, the power supply should be cut off immediately and professional maintenance personnel should be notified to handle it. Keep the electrical control cabinet clean and dry to prevent dust and moisture from entering and causing short circuit faults.

Hydraulic System Safety: The hydraulic system has a high pressure when working. It is strictly forbidden to disassemble the hydraulic pipeline or components under pressure. If the hydraulic system leaks oil, it should be stopped and checked in time. It can be used again after repair.
